FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Morgan Submitted: June 2007 ========================================================================= "Morris Sun Tribune", Morris, Minnesota December 18, 1972 "Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Yarger, 79, esteemed Stevens county resident and a resident of Morris for almost 50 years, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Federated Church. Rev. Howard F. Jones officiated. Miss Florence Ortman was organist. Soloist was Mrs. Norman Kroening. Interment was in Summit Cemetery. Casket bearers were David Yarger, Lynn Christiansen, Bruce Christiansen, Thomas Sorensen, James Sorensen and Richard Werpy. Mrs. Yarger died Friday, December 22, at the Villa of St. Francis. She had been in failing health for the past three years. Marie A. Fischer was born Jan. 31, 1893, at Budesheim, Germany, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fischer. She came to America with her family as an infant. The family settled in Stevens county where she grew to womanhood. On April 29, 1915, she married Edwin James Yarger in Minneapolis. The couple farmed in Darnen township until 1930 when the family moved to Morris. Mr. Yarger died May 18, 1962. For the past year and a half Mrs. Yarger had been a resident of the Villa of St. Francis. She was a member of Federated Church, Federated Women's Fellowship, VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also was a member of and had held offices in the Navy Mothers Club, Royal Neighbors and the Women's Institute. Surviving the deceased are two sons, Donald of Morris and Edwin of Faribault; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Sorensen (Betty) of Minneapolis and Mrs. Lyle Christiansen (Donna) of Morris; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceeded in death by two grandchildren, four sisters and a brother.
