Camaish, 76, a former Ely resident, dies Richard J. Camaish, 76, a former Ely resident, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Manor Care Health Services, Montgomery Township, PA. For more than 44 years, he was the husband of Hildegard (Fleiner) Camaish, who died in 1995. Born in Ely, he was the son of the late Joseph Richard and Anna (Marench) Camaish, He served for almost 22 years in the U.S. Air Force in radio communications and electronics, earning the rank of technical sergeant, including serving during the time of the Berlin Airlift at the end of WWII. Later, while stationed in Colorado, he assisted with the development of the NORAD installation, retiring from the Air Force in 1967. He completed his working career as an industrial electrician with the former Master Etching Machine Co.. in Ambler, retiring after 25 years of service. He is survived by his son, Richard M. (Kathy) Camaish of Hatfield; granddaughter, Rachel Camaish; sister, Roberta Patterson of Ely; a brother, Raymond (Carol) Camaish of Hoyt Lakes, MN and asister-in-law Irma Moneglia, of Ambler. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
