Dewhurst, 92, of Biwabik dies Marjorie A. Dewhurst, 92, of Biwabik died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, in the White Community Hospital in Aurora. She was born March 3, 1912, in Ely to Frank and Johana (Zunich) Peshel. She was a graduate of Ely High School and later married Bartlett Dewhurst in 1934. They resided in Ely until 1943, when the family moved to Biwabik. Marge worked as a seamstress for the Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory in Gilbert and as a cashier at Nick Talus' Food Market in Biwabik. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women, the Slovenian Women's Union, Biwabik Senior Citizens, the Biwabik American Legion Auxiliary and the Biwabik Garden Club. She was a 50-year member of the Women's Life Insurance-Ely Chapter and the American Fraternal Union of Ely. Marge's family would like to thank the Lighthouse for the Blind and all of her neighbors and close friends for helping her to keep her independence during her nearly 15 years of blindness. Survivors include her sons, Frank (Barb) of Austin, TX, Ronald (Carol) of Biwabik and Gerald (Shirley) of Anchorage, AK; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bartlett; daughter, Ruth Noreen; son, David Alan Dewhurst; and sisters, Fannie, Ann and Mayme. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church in Biwabik, with the Rev. David Forsman as celebrant. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Eveleth.
