She was born November 22, 1928 in Blackduck, MN to Frank Leslie and Bertha Christina (Hansen) Perkins. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School and on September 18, 1946 married Howard Leroy Hoard in Cohassett, MN. Betty was a devoted wife, loving, caring mother and a friend to all. She was adored by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Howard in 1996; sister: Virginia Bullock; and brother: Frank “Sonny” Perkins. Betty is survived by children: Linda Quance of Omaha, NE, Patricia Johnson of Richfield, MN, Rebecca (William) Constant of Middleburg, FL, Michael (Mina) Hoard of Sunnyvale, CA and Gerald (Patty Hill) Hoard of Chisholm; siblings: Mildred (Marcus) Clark of Mesa, AZ, Wally Perkins of CA, Wayne Perkins of Prior Lake, Roger Dale (Carolyn) Perkins of IA, Deborah (Ron) Lane of Grand Rapids; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 13, at Woodland Presbyterian Church in Babbitt. Pastor Anna Williamson will officiated. Family services provided by the Kerntz Brothers, A Bauman Family Funeral Home, Ely.
