Johnson, 79, of Virginia, formerly of Embarrass, dies John F. Johnson, 79, of Virginia, formerly of Embarrass, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at his home. John was born on Aug. 31, 1925, to Andrew and Ellen (Aho) Johnson in Verona, Mich. John was united in marriage to Jean Zuidmulder on Dec. 17, 1949, in Wakefield, Mich. He resided in Michigan working in the mining industry until moving to Embarrass in 1954. John was employed by Erie Mining Co., then retired from LTV Steel. During his retirement years, he enjoyed polka music, visiting friends and family and going for car rides. Survivors include two sons, Richard Johnson of Virginia and Mark (Lori) Johnson of St. Michael, MN; one sister, Nancy (Rick) Lorentzen of Clio, MI; good friend and brother-in-law, Ervin Minier; caregiver Pam Johnson; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean C. Johnson; daughter, Bonnie McDonald; siblings, Marlyss Coleman, Rueben, Duane and Robert Johnson and Priscilla Lafferty. Services were held Friday at the Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass with burial n the Embarrass Cemetery.
