Lobe, a 90 year resident of Ely, dies Jennie M. Lobe, a 90 year resident of Ely, passed away at Viewcrest Nursing Home on March 18, 2007. She was born in Section Thirty, near Ely, to August and Hilma (Erving) Jokela on September 5, 1914. She was a long time member of First Lutheran Church in Ely. One of her greatest joys was spending time at the cabin. She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Lobe; her parents; stepmother and aunt Sofia (Erving) Jokela; infant son Donald; sisters Martha Anderson, Ora Niemi, Helen Grivette and brother William Jokela. Jennie is survived by her children, Kenneth (Liza) Lobe, Sharon (John) Pierce, Jeanette (Bernie) Palcher; grandchildren, Samantha (Jason) Whetsell, Marcus (Deeanna) Lobe, John (Leeann) Palcher, Laura (Peter) Eng; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Jacob and Liberty; sister Aune Bobence; brothers, Harold (Mary) Jokela and Jalmer Jokela as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in First Lutheran Church, 915 E. Camp St. Ely, MN. with Reverend John Bonk officiating.
