'Ray' Pederson, 85, of Duluth dies Raymond C. 'Ray' Pederson, 85, of Duluth, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 in St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Duluth on Dec. 19, 1918 to Palmer and Anna Pederson. Ray had attended Morgan Park High School and later served with the CCC. An Army veteran of World War II, Ray was awarded a Silver Star for his service in the European Theater of Operations. He later married Mary E. Curnow in Ely, on June 21, 1947. Ray spent 37 years at the U.S. Steel Plant, working as a stationary engineer in the Power House. Following retirement from U.S. Steel, he worked as a security officer at Jenos for a short time. He attended Central Assembly of God, in Superior, where he served as an usher and was a member of its' Son Seekers. His parents; brother, Melvin; sisters, Irene and Myrtle; and great- granddaughter, Hannah Lattanzio preceded him in death. Ray is survived by his wife, Mary E.; daughters, Winnie (Kendall) Fermenich, Debbie (Thomas) Houle and Mary (Jim) Morgan, all of Duluth, Kim LeBoeuf, Superior; sons, Kevin (Phyllis) and Ross (Wendy), all of Duluth, Paul (Kelly Jo), of Superior; brother, Earl (Beverly) of Omaha, Neb.; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; and friends.
