        Duluth Millionaire Dead
 DULUTH, April 27-- J. D. Ray, one of Duluth's
oldest and wealthiest citizens, died this
morning from an attack of pneumonia,
superinduced by grip. He was seventy-three
years old. His estate is estimated at $1,000,000.

   Duluth, Minn., April 28 - James D. Ray,
one of the oldest and best known citizens
of Duluth, died this morning after a short
attack of grip. He came to the head of the
lakes in 1857. He has lived in Duluth 
twenty-five years and is seventy-three years
old. He leaves a wife and two children. He
also leaves an estate consisting of city
lands and iron properties valued at considerably
over $1,500,000. Less than a month ago he
refused a cash offer of $500,000 for part
of his iron holdings. His son R. C. Ray, is 
now on his way home from Southern California.
