FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Ely Echo [www.elyecho.com] Submitted: November 2004 ========================================================================= Christine (Tini) Tomsich, 85, of Ely, dies Christine (Tini) Tomsich, 85, of Ely, died Thursday Nov. 11, 2004 surrounded by her family at St. Raphael's Health and Rehab Center in Eveleth. Christine was bom on Sept. 23, 1919 in Ely to Jacob and Rose (Scufsa) Chepelnik, where she grew up and attended school. She married Louis (Cedar) Tomsich on Jan. 7, 1942. They made their home in Ely on West Chapman Street. Tini worked for the County Garage in Ely for many years and loved every minute of it. Tini enjoyed cooking Slovenian foods, picking blueberries, gardening and just being with her family and having coffee with her many friends. She was also a devoted Minnesota Twins fan. Tini was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, WSA Fraternal Life and CFU Fraternal Union, the VFW Ladies Auxilliary, and AFU. Survivors include her three children, Carol TeGaiitvoort of Maplewood, Louis (Linda) Tomsich of Ramsey and Jack ( Sue) Tomsich of Prior Lake. Also seven grandchildren: Bradley (Amy) TeGantvoort, Kurt (Jill) TeGantvoort, Kevin (Sherri) TeGantvoort, and Kari (John) Knodle. Dale, Ryan, and Chad Tomsich; seven great grandchildren : Tony, Page, Ashley, Alicia, Jorren, and Laurie and Johnny Knodle; sisters Rose Krall of Duluth and Ann Mobilia of Ely; five nieces and two nephews and other important extended family. Tini was proud to be from Ely and will be greatly missed by everyone, including those on the famous "name wall." Tini was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis (Cedar) Tomsich, infant daughter Christine, brothers Jackie, Albert, and an infant twin brother, and brother-in-laws Tony Mobilia and Ed Krall. Mass of Christian Burial for Christine was Monday Nov. 15, 2004 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father James Scheuer officiating. Burial followed in Ely Cemetery.
