E. Arntzen, former longtime Appleton residents, now residing at Spicer and Scottsdale, Ariz., were honored at an open house on the occasion of their golden anniversary Sunday, June 11, at Zion Lutheran church. Host and hostess were the Arntzens' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Stehn,of Cairo,Eqypt. Mr. and Mrs. Arntzen were married June 12, 1922 at Our Saviour's Lutheran church in Montevideo by Rev. Mason. The attendants from the wedding party that were in attendance at the open house were Mrs. Morris Falk, the maid of honor, George Arntzen, best man, and Miss Marie Axness, one of the bridesmaids. During the afternoon a program was presented with Dr. Charles Balcer, president of Augustana college, Sioux Falls, S. D., giving devotions. A service when the Arntzens reviewed their wedding vows was conducted by Rev. Clifford Nelson, of St. Cloud. Following this, Mrs. Leonard Massee and Mrs. Donald Risch sang the duet, "Oh Blest the House, Whate're Befall." Greeting the some 500 guests were Mr. and Mrs. George Arntzen, of Granite Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Falk, of Montevideo. The guest book was attended by Miss Marie Axness, of Montevideo. Grandchildren of the honored guests, Gregory Stehn, presented thank you notes to each guest, and Julie and Andrea Stehn served punch. Those who served at the refreshment table included Mrs. Arthur Axness, of Minneapolis, Mrs. Theo Straub of Eureka, S. D., Mrs. Martin Arntzen, of York, Maine, Miss Mary Arntzen of Granite Falls, Mrs. James Carney, of Wahpeton, N. D., Mrs. Isabelle Rudi, of Wheaton, Mrs. Herbert Axness, of Sisseton, S. D., Mrs. Irvin Stehn, of Danvers, and Mrs. Clarence Thompson, of Appleton.
