Open house was held from 12:30 TO 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon at their home and church services at Trinity Lutheran church, Fairfield township at 3 p.m. Ushers at the services were Miss Marlys Delgehausen, Miss Geraldine Sachs, Harvey Boese and Floyd Hein. Musical numbers were rendered by a group of the children and grandchildren. Miss Geraldine Sachs sang "The Lord's Prayer." They were also honored at a reception at their home immediately following the services, at which about 70 guests were present. A three-tiered wedding cake served as the centerpiece at the table. White and gold streamers and chrysanthemums formed the decorations. Mrs. Chester Smith poured. Waitresses were Miss Marlys Delgehausen, Miss Geraldine Sachs, Mrs. Charles Thorson, Mrs. Floyd Hein, Mrs. Harvey Boese, and Mrs. Warren Sachs, all grandchildren. The couple was presented with a corsage of red rose buds and white carnations and a yellow chrysanthemum boutonniere. Mrs. Sachs was born March 16, 1874, in Fairfield township. Mrs. Sachs was born in Woodbury, Washington county, Sept. 21, 1878. They were united in marriage on Nov 18, 1897, at Fairfield church. The first seven years of their married life they spent in Moyer township, and since then they have resided in Fairfield. Seven children were born to them. They are Edgar of Hancock, Herman, at home in Fairfield, Alfred and Elmer, of Holloway, Otto and Mrs. John Munsterman (Evelyn) of Appleton. One daughter, Mrs. Henry Delgehausen (Esther) has passed away. They have 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Out of town guests in attendance were Mrs. Emil Roller, of Tacoma, Wash., Gust Jagow, of Selah Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hallaway, of Rock Lake, N. D. ________________________________ Another Article: Honored on golden wedding anniversary at Trinity Church Mr. and Mrs. Otto SACHS, of Appleton, were honored at an open house reception on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 14 at Trinity Lutheran church, Appleton. The reception was hosted by their children, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sachs and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Sachs, and the grandchildren. A short program was given with Steven Sachs as master of ceremonies, grandson of the honored couple. After introduction of the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Rhonda Zimmer sang "For Bobbie" with piano accompaniment by Denise Wilkening. A reading was given by granddaughters Gail Clark, Tamara Hirman and Peggy Sachs. Janelle Clark, great-grandchild, sang "Happy Anniversary". Herbert Sachs, a brother, sang a German hymn, "With the Lord Begin thy Task, Jesus will Direct it," which was sung on Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sachs' wedding day. Rev Dan Abrahams closed the program with a talk and table prayer. Grandsons Mark and Timothy Sachs were at the guest book and thank you notes were handed out by Kevin Sachs and Janelle Clark. Punch was served by Mrs. Craig Sachs and Mrs. Steven Sachs. Cutting and serving the wedding cake were Mrs. Warren Sachs and Mrs. Virgil Sachs, daughters-in- law of the couple. Mrs. Dave Holzheimer and Kathy Sachs poured coffee. Kitchen honors went to the ladies of Trinity Guild, who served the lunch. Martha Heldt and Otto Sachs were married Nov. 22, 1926, at Trinity Lutheran church at Fairfield Township with Rev. H. Jaus officiating. Their attendants were Edwin and Clarence Heldt, brothers of the bride and Esther Sachs Delgehausen and Marie Burke Heldt, all deceased. The couple lived and farmed in the Holloway and Appleton area until Feb. 1956, when they moved to Appleton. Mr. Sachs was employed at the Appleton Furniture store for 19 ½ years. The couple reside at 438 West Schlieman. They have two sons, Warren of Willmar, and Virgil, of Appleton; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives attending the reception were from Albert Lea, Rochester, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Elk River, Brandon, New Ulm, Clontarf, Willmar, Hancock, Kandiyohi, Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Circle Pine, Madison, Millan, Holloway and Appleton area, Custer, Wis., and Iowa. ________________________________
