Dolan, lifetime resident of West Bank township, died at his home near Danvers on Wednesday afternoon, July 12, after a long illness form heart trouble and complications. Francis Edward Dolan was born at the family homestead in West Bank township, Swift county, on Oct 22, 1879, and was nearly 60 years old at the time of his death. he was the youngest son of the late Thomas and Cecelia Dolan, pioneer residents of Swift county, who migrated here from Boston Massachusetts in April 1877, and built up the homestead where Mr. Dolan resided continuously throughout his life. The deceased was a brother of John T., Charles M., and Terrance P. Dolan, who preceded him in death. On February 12, 1918 he was married to Miss Edith Tait of Kandiyohi, at the St. Paul Cathedral, by Father Edward Ryan. His wife, one son, Robert; four daughters, Ann, Virginia, Betty Jean and Patricia; one brother, Thomas R. and one sister, Ceclia A. Dolan all of Danvers mourn his loss. During his young manhood Mr. Dolan was one of Swift County s Rural School Teachers. Later, he served for many years on the school board of District 98. He was a member of the St. Francis chapter of the Knights of Columbus, and also a member of the holy Name Society of the Church of the Visitation at Danvers. Funeral services for Mr. Dolan were held Friday morning July 14, at 9 o'clock in the Church of the Visitation. Solemn requiem mass was celebrated by Father Wm. Delancy of Beardsley, associated by Father Henry McCall of Danvers and Father Wm. P. Walsh of Murdock. Active pallbearers were J. C. Dolan, and Thomas J. Dolan of Danvers; Edward Dolan of DeGraff, John F. Dolan of Saint Paul, Joah Haley of Kandiyohi and George Quigley of Lincoln, Minn. honorary pallbearers included john O'Connor of Benson, D.B. Johnston of Litchfield; R. B. Coy, H.A. Ernst and Lewis Gallagher of Danvers. Burial was made in the family plot of the cemetery of the Church of the Visitation. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Wm. Reilley of Hardin, Montana and Miss Katherine Tait of Minneapolis and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Tait and family of Kandiyohi, Mrs F.G. Papousek of Spearfish S.D., Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Dolan, Mrs John Connolly, Joseph Connolly, Mrs. A. J. McGuire, Mrs Mary O'Rourke, Mrs L.B. Although Mr. Dolan had not been in the best of health for many years, he was always able to manage his farm, which is one of the largest stock and grain farms in the county. he took an enthusiastic interest in the affairs of the community even when he was unable to participate actively in them. His greatest pleasure, which came from the many visits paid him by relatives and friends, has proven the greatest consolation to his bereaved family. Swift County Monitor july 21, 1939
