FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy VanVleet ========================================================================= John DUFFY November 5, 1882 to Dec 8, 1949 John Duffy Dies Thursday, Dec. 8 A solemn requiem high mass was held for the repose of the soul of John Duffy, of Moyer township, at St. Joseph's Catholics church at Holloway at 9:30 a.m., Dec. 11. Rev Fr. T. D. Szymanski officiated, assisted by Rev. Fr. Richard King, of Clontarf, and Rev. Fr. Russell Doerrer, of Benson. Death was due to a heart attack and came about 9 a.m. Thursday as he was preparing to go to mass. Mrs. Stuke, of Benson, sang the mass accompanied by Miss Mary Jo McGowan, at the organ. Burial was made at St. Malachy's cemetery in Clontaft. John Duffy was born Nov. 5, 1882, in Marysland township, son of John and Catherine Duffy. He lived most of his live in Swift county. He was an active member of the St. Joseph's Men's Club of Holloway and a member of the St. Francis council of the Knights of Columbus. These two organizations met at the farm home to say the Rosary Sunday afternoon. Honorary pallbearers were John Langsdorf, Wensel Liecski, Delmar Carruth, Henry Zinda, James Hughes and Wm. Schnitzler. Active pallbearers were Arthur Van Vleet, Raymond Andrews, Thomas and Frank Dolan, Frank Rakowski and Howald Bahl. John Mitteness and Maurice Schlink served as ushers. Those from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Duffy of Mound, Mr. And Mrs. F. A. Duffy, of Spring Park, Patrick Gallagher, Grand Rapids, Frank Langsdorf, Cudahy, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Everette Langsdorf, Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Kerner, St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cote, New Richmond, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Carruth, Shakopee, Mrs. Celia and Frank Rakowski, of Appleton.
