FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy VanVleet ========================================================================= Alfred SACHS May 26, 1900 to May 7, 1983 Alfred Sachs Funeral services for Alfred Sachs, were held on Tuesday, May 10, at 2:00 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Henry V. Buchholz was the officiant of the service. Music was provided by Mrs. Waldemar Schwarz as the organist, and the congregation joining in singing four hymns. Honorary Bearers were all of Alfred's grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Casketbearers were Michael Clemens, Mark Dahlstrom, Steven Dahlstrom, Kenneth DeBur, Donald Thorson and Robert Thorson. Interment was at the Appleton City Cemetery. The Holman-Vaala Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Alfred Fred Sachs was born on May 26, 1900 at Moyer Township to parents Otto and Rachel Schulz Sachs. On July 1, 1900, he was baptized by Rev. C. Albrecht at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township. He was confirmed on April 5, 1914 by Rev. H. J. Raedeke at Trinity Church, Fairfield Township. On February 18, 1925 he was united in marriage to Mildred Schliep at Fairfield Church. This union was blest with the birth of four daughters. Alfred and Mildred enjoyed 54 years of married life together before Mildred's death on Nov. 22, 1979. During his working years Alfred farmed in Moyer and Fairfield Townships. On his retirement in 1951 they moved into Appleton where Alfred worked as a mechanic and a carpenter for a number of years. For the past few years Alfred was a resident of the Madison Lutheran Home, where he died Saturday evening, May 7, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 11 days. He is survived by his four daughters - Mrs. Harvey (Deloris) Boese, Mrs. Florrine Hein and Mrs. Anna Mae Thorson all of Appleton and Mrs. Marvin (Geraldine Stavig, of Robbinsdale. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, four brothers – Herbert of Madison, Otto of Appleton, Elmer of Elk River and Edgar of Hancock; a sister – Mrs. William (Evelyn) Behrens of Eden Prairie; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred, one sister, Mrs. Henry (Esther) Delgehausen, one granddaughter and 3 sons-in-law.
