Schmidt dies of leukemia Funeral services for Mrs. August Schmidt, 50, of Willow River, were held at 2 p. m. on Wednesday, July 18, at Peace Lutheran church, Finlayson, with Rv. W. J. Rittamel officiating. Mrs. Schmidt died on Saturday, July 14, at Pine County Memorial hospital, Sandstone, of leukemia after an illness of about two months. Pallbearers were Virgil Loose, Wallace Loose, Lloyd Schmidt, Paul Schmidt, Gehard Ehrenberg and John Risch. Interment took place in Peace Lutheran cemetery at Finlayson. Mabel Risch was born in Fairfield township, Swift county, on Aug. 15, 1911, the daughter of William and Johanna Knopff Risch. She was united in marriage to August Schmidt on June 18, 1940, at Fairfield township, Swift county. They moved to Pine county in 1940. Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Miss Mae Louise Schmidt, of St. Paul; her mother, Mrs. Johanna Risch, of Benson, three sisters, Mrs. Hubert Kohler, of Holloway, Miss Clara Risch of Benson, and Mrs. Helen Strand, of St. Cloud; and one brother, John Risch, of Holloway. Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by one son.
