A. Smith dies Thursday Funeral services for Mrs. C. A. Smith, 78, a resident of Holloway since 1907, here held at 2 P. M. on Saturday, Feb 9, at Immanuel Lutheran church, Holloway, with Rev. J. R. Sheppard officiating. Mrs. Smith died of a heart ailment at Appleton Municipal hospital on Thursday, Feb. 7. Pallbearers were Walter Priess, Glen Owens, Oscar Olson, Ray Hoffman, Roland Hamann and Otto Sachs. Interment took place in the Appleton cemetery. Ida Christine Sachs was born in Fairfield township on Jan. 28, 1885, the daughter of William and Augusta Sachs. She was united in marriage to Chester Smith on Nov. 20, 1904, at Evangelical Lutheran church, Fairfield. She lived at Bagley in 1904 and the rest of her life was spent in the area. She was an honorary member of the Ladies Aid of Immanuel Lutheran church, Holloway. Surviving are her husband, Chester; one sister, Mrs. Fred Hallaway (Deanna), of Rock Lake, N. D.; three sons, Melvin, of Lomita, Calif., Morrell of St. Paul, and Arin, of Chokio; one daughter, Mrs. Edward Glisky (Della), of Minneapolis, eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, three bothers, Otto, Herman and William; five sisters, Mrs. August Hoffman (Emma), Mrs. August Hamann (Martha), Mrs. I. E. Kirby (Gustie), Mrs. Fred Heldt (Anna) and Mrs. Gust Jagow (Minnie); and one son, Lyle.
