FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy VanVleet September 2004 ========================================================================= Esther MAXWELL SUCKOW March 4, 1906 to December 24, 1997 Esther Sukow Esther Augusta Amanda Sukow was born In Holloway March 41, 1906, to Floyd and Carl (Schulz) Maxwell. One April 8, 1906, she was baptized by Pastor Brauer of Fairfield Lutheran Church. She became of member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Holloway in June 1923. Esther attended Holloway Public School, St. Cloud Teacher's College and Moorhead College. On October 26, 1932, she was married to August A. Sukow, of Dexter, at the Appleton Methodist Episcopal Church. After their marriage they spent two years traveling and working for an electric welding company based in Chicago. After this they farmed in Mower County for nineteen years. They lived at Eagle Bend from 1951 until 1982. Esther retired, after teaching for 30 years, in 1968. Esther was a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the Appleton Methodist Episcopal Church. She enjoyed working with children. Her hobbies included reading and corresponding with her many friends. Esther died Wednesday morning, December 24, 1997, at the Appleton Municipal hospital. She had attained the age of 91 years, 9 months and 20 days. She is survived by her son Gary (and Margaret) Sukow of Fall Church, Virginia; two grandsons; Randall of Arlington, Virginia and Collin of Rapid City, South Dakota; her brother Clifford (and Doris) Maxwell of Fergus Falls, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in August of 1981, brother and sister in law Milton and Georgia Maxwell and her sister Florence Maxwell.
