FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy VanVleet September 2004 ========================================================================= Ernestina VERCH SUCKOW March 19, 1845 to January 6, 1933 IS VICTIM OF PNEUMONIA Mrs. Wilhelm Scukow Dies after Weeks Illness…87 years old Mrs. Wilhelm Suckow passed away at her home in Moyer, on Friday January 6, following a week's illness fromflu and pneumonia. She was 87 years old and had been blind for the past two years and cared for by her daughter, Miss Anna. Ernestina (Verch) Suckow was born March 19, 1845, at Altenwedel, Germany. She immigrated to America in 1869 coming to Ripon, Wisconsin. On March 16, 1872, she was married to Wilhelm Suckow, at Green Lake, Wisconsin. They came to Swift County in 1873, taking homestead in Moyer Township, where she lived until her death. Mrs. Suckow joined St. John's Lutheran Church in Moyer in 1890 and was a faithful member during her life. Five children survive: Mrs. Christ Koosman, Frank Suckow, Willie and Miss Anna Suckow, all of Moyer, and Mrs. Hubert Wrege of Mellen, Wisconsin. One sister Mrs. Shellenberger lives in Germany. Thirty grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at one o'clock from the home and later from St. John's Lutheran Church in Moyer. Interment was in the church cemetery. Rev. C. Anderson conducted the services. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers: Herbert, August, Fred, and Robert Koosman, Helmuth Wrege and Palmer Suckow. Relatives here to attend the funeral were Mrs. Hubert Wrege and son, Helmuth, Willie Koosman and Mrs. Esther Schmidt of Mellen, Wisconsin.
