A Victim of Sudden Attack of Heart Disease While Feeding His Stock. John Bail, one of the old residents of Todd county and well known, dropped dead Sunday evening. The news of his death was a great shock to all as he appeared to be enjoying the best health, and his prominence in the community in which he lived made him a familiar figure. He was in town on business Monday last and seemed in unusually good health and spirits. Death was probably due to heart disease. He had gone out to the barn to feed stock and was stooping over a bin picking up corn. He had filled the basket full and it appears that he started to lift and the theory is, that the sudden exertion affected his heart. He was found by his wife and was still alive when she reached him but he expired a few moments later. Mr. Bail had lived in Todd county over thirty years and was honored and respected by all who knew him. He came to Todd when the county was wilderness, has grown up with it and helped develop it. We owe much to such men as John bail, and as these old settlers pass away, their memories should be richly honored, for our present prosperity and happy condition is due in a large measure to the early toil and hardship of these old pioneers. Mr. Bail was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, seventy-four years ago. When a young lad he moved to Ohio and in 1856 came to Minnesota and settled in Sibley county. He came to Todd county and settled in Leslie in 1873. His wife died fours years ago and two years ago he married Mrs. Hannah Larson, who survives him. He is also mourned by two children, Mrs. effie Gleason of Nevis and Val. Bail of Reynolds. The funeral services were held Wednesday, Rev. Frank Woodward conducting them, and the remains laid to rest in the Leslie cemetery. Todd County Argus, April 21, 1904 p.1 c.1
