Brendmoe While not unexpected, news of the death of Erick E. Brendmoe pioneer resident of Todd county who had been in ill health at the Community hospital in Osakis for several weeks, was received by his many friends with many expressions of regret. He passed away at an early hour Saturday morning surrounded by members of the family. Erick E. Brendmoe was born in Meraker, Norway, January 20, 1860, and died at Osakis Minn., February 23, 1929, aged 69 years, one month and three days. He came with his parents to America in 1871 and they settled first in Goodhue county where they made their home for four years, later going by prairie schooner to Big Stone lake where they resided for one year before moving to Todd county. On July 29, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Mali Trondset in Gordon township, and to this union eight children were born of which six survive; Mrs. Peter Danielson, Graceville, Minn.; Mrs. Martin P. Funeral services were conducted from the farm home in Gordon at 1 o'clock tuesday afternoon and from the Salem church at 2 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. J. A. Johnson, officiating. The services were largely attended and the great profusion of flowers attested the high regard in whick the deceased was held by his old friends and neighbors. Music was furnished by the Gordon make quartet and by the M. E. church mixed quartet who sang several sacred selections. Mr. Brendmoe affiliated with the Salem congregation and in his quiet unassuming way was one of its most respected members. He was a kind neighbor and loyal friend and his death is deeplymourned by all who enjoyed his acquaintance. Interment was in the church cemetery. The pall bearers were Peter Johnson,Ola Mikkelson, Mikkel Vangstad, Thosten Johnson, Randall Johnson and Ole Klukken. ========================================================================= Copyright Susan Craft Vera 2006.
