Duerre, George F. George Duerre, Plainview, Dies (This clipping was found in my mother's copy of the 1920 version of "History of Wabasha County") Plainview, Minn. (Special) George F. Duerre, 92, Plainview businessman 50 years, died Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Wabasha, following a heart attack at this home two days before. Mr. Duerre retired in 1948 after operating a hardware store here 50 years. He served as Wabasha County treasurer from 1892 to 1948, and before that operated a general store at Reads Landing from 1885 to 1892. He was born Aug. 16, 1865, at Reads Landing, and attended school there. He graduated from Minneapolis Business College in 1885. He married Mabelle Cassidy Jan. 23, 1895, at Wabasha. They had a 60th wedding anniversary celebration in 1955. She died last January. Mr. Duerre was a member of the Plainview Masonic lodge 60 years and received his 50-year membership pin in 1948. Surviving are four sons: Donald, Wabasha; William, Devenport, Iowa; Thomas, Waseca; and Charles, Eau Claire; one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Lucy) Quinn, Los Angeles; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 P.M. at Johnson & Schriver Funeral Home, Dr. Harry Moore, Rochester, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Wabasha. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 P.m. Sunday until time of services Monday. Pallbearers will be Wright Miller, M. J. Leonard, John Welti, Vern and Leslie Smith and Frank Mrachek.
