Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Chuck Miller JACOB ALFRED SANDBERG (SANBORN) was born in the village of Råberga in the Täby parish of Örebro län (county), Sweden on November 22, 1841. He was the youngest of 4 children (all boys) born to Gustaf Larsson of Täby parish and Christina Jacobsdotter of Knista Parish, Örebro län. On October 4, 1874 he married Ida Wilhelmina Spångberg in Örebro (city) of Örebro län. To this marriage, 3 children were born, Maria Wilhelmina; Hugo Alfred; Esther Matilda, wife of Myron Harkness. On September 16, 1880, his wife Ida died. After her death, Ida's sister, Anna Lovisa, would help him with his 2 young children (Maria died in 1876). Anna Lovisa Spångberg would become his second wife and to this marriage, 7 children were born, Ellen Constance, wife of Edward York; Alma Louise, wife of Benjamin Fowler; Anna Marie, wife of George Livingston; Jennie Alfreda, wife of William Carr; Edith; Lawrence Theodore and Harold Bernard. On May 6, 1884 after the birth of Ellen, the family of Jacob, Anna Lovisa, Hugo, Esther and Ellen immigrated from Sweden ending up in Lake City, Wabasha county, Minnesota. After arriving in Lake City, he changed his name to Sanborn so it would be the same as his brother, John who lived in Reads Landing, Wabasha county, Minnesota. Jacob worked as a tailor, first in Sweden and then at the H.A. Young company in Lake City. He made his residence at 221 North Prairie Street until his death on April 27, 1919. He was buried in the Lake City Oakwood cemetery. His wife, Anna Lovisa died on April 20, 1920 and is buried by his side. Written by his gr-grandson, Chuck Miller, September 1999
