Kirtz, 70, Lake City died March 23, 1992 at Lake City Hospital. Born Sept. 4, 1921, in Theilman, he was the son of Nicholas and Theresa (Weber) Kirtz. He attended Mary E. McCahill School in Lake City. Alvin joined the army in September of 1942 and served during World War II, receiving a bronze star and bronze service arrowhead, and was discharged in October of 1945. After moving back to Lake City, he married Donna Kirkwood Nov. 1, 1948 in Norwood, Iowa. He owned and operated Lake Pepin Amusement from 1959 to present and was a member of VFW Post 8729 and St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas of Apple Valley and Robert of Lake City; one daughter, Mrs. William Susan) Stiene of Lake City; seven grandchildren; mother, Theresa Kirtz of Minneapolis; one sister, Bernetta Klingsporn of Oakdale, Minn.; two brothers, William of Lake City and Elmer of Mautson, Wis. He was preceded in death by his father and four brothers. Funeral services will be held March 26 (today) at 2 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Pastor Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Herbert Anderson, Wayne VonBargen, Donald Hoyt, Donald Ludwig, Mark Peters and Jack Thorson.
