Plainview Gleanor, Feb 14, 1902. Died at Kellogg Wabasha Herald: James Carpenter, a resident of Kellogg for a number of years, died in that village, Tuesday evening, Feb 4, at an advanced age. He was taken suddenly ill Monday with heart trouble and passed away as above stated. His funeral was held on Friday afternoon and the interment made in Cooks Valley cemetery. Mrs. LaRue of Kellogg is his daughter and George Carpenter of Oakwood a son. He has other sons in South Dakota. Mr. Carpenter was a kindly old gentleman who had the respect and esteem of all who knew him. Besides his children he leaves an aged wife to mourn for him.
