Berryman Note: This obituary was taken from the newspaper "The Lake City Graphic". 8/1973 Charles Kirtz, 48, Ex-Resident, Dies Charles (Chico) Edward Kirtz, 48, Zion, Illinois, died August 3 in Zion. Mr. Kirtz was born Oct. 24, 1924 in Theilman to Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Kirtz. He was never married. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. He was employed at Zion Post Office for the past five years and before that was employed for 19 years at Warrick Electronics. He was also a member of the Zion Benton Moose Lodge. Mr. Kirtz graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943. Survivors include his mother, of Minneapolis; five brothers, Lester of Gurnee, Illinois, Elmer, Mautson, Wisconsin, and Frank, William and Alvin of Lake City and one sister, Mrs. Bernetta Klingsporn of St. Paul. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother. Funeral services were held at 11 am Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Father Donald Leary officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Iver Eggenberger, Charles Strawmatt, Robert Breuer, Willard Nibbe, Leonard Simons and Howard Brostrom.
