Berryman Note: This obituary was taken from the newspaper "The Lake City Graphic". 5/1967 Mrs. Herbst Age 80, Dies Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur Herbst, 80, who died May 21 at the local hospital following a long illness, were held Wednesday at First Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert E. Rollin officiated and burial was in Lakewood Cemetery. Born July 4, 1886 at Durand, Wisconsin, the former Clara Wilde was married to Arthur J. Herbst Oct. 5, 1904 in Wabasha. The couple lived in the Lake City area since that time. Mrs. Herbst was a member of First Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband; five sons, Harry, August, James and Clarence of Lake City, and Elmer of Minneapolis; six daughters, Mrs. Isabel Perkins, Mrs. Tate (Agnes) Pulver, and Mrs. Vernon (Frances) Allers, all of Lake City, Mrs. Sylvester (Helen) Krause, Minneapolis, Mrs. Herman (Louella) Stephens, Backus, and Mrs. Marvin (Ethel) Rabe of Chatfield; 35 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; one brother, William Wilde of Millville; and five sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Elsie) Yungers of Red Wing, Mrs. William (Louise) Pembleton of Racine, Minnesota, Mrs. George (Margaret) Redding of Millville, Mrs. Otto (Lillie) Tschoepe and Mrs. John (Carrie) Jostock, Sr. both of Lake City. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death. Pallbearers were Richard and Michael Herbst, Melvin Perkins, Gerald Allers, Larry Rabe and Donald Krause.
