Halpaus, 74, Red Wing, died Aug. 23, 1995 at her home. She was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Red Wing, the daughter of Einar and Hilda (Upman) Knutson, and attended schools in Red Wing. She married Howard Halpaus. They lived in the Red Wing area many years. She worked at Lyon Hotel and Jewell Nursery, both in Lake City. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Charles) Hauer of Red Wing and Marie (Robert Sr.) Broze of Goodhue; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992, three brothers, one sister and one great granddaughter. A private funeral was held. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
