Kirtz Sr., 58, Gurnee, Illinois, and formerly of Lake City, died Sept. 13 at a Waukegan, Illinois hospital. He was born May 5, 1923, in Wabasha County and resided in Lake City where he attended school. He served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Kirtz had been a member of several organizations in Illinois including the Swedish Glee Club, American Legion and Moose Lodge. He also was owner and operator of North Shore Office Machines. Survivors include his widow, the former Mary Ellen Coon; three sons, Lester Jr., Melrose Park, Illinois, Nicholas and David, both of Kenosha, Wisconsin; four daughters, Mrs. Arpad (Mary Beth) Szatori, Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. John (Sue) Meyer and Mrs. Ken (Sharon) Stroud, both of Waukegan, and Mrs. Robin Kirtz at home; his mother, Mrs. Theresa Kirtz, Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, William, Lake City, Elmer, Mautson, Wisconsin, and Alvin, Lake City; and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Bernetta) Klingsporn, St. Paul. Funeral services were held Sept. 15 at St. Dimas Church, Waukegan, and interment was at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, Illinois.
