Halpaus Dies Suddenly Mrs. Nicholas Halpaus died in Lake City Hospital Saturday evening following a stroke suffered earlier at her home at 101 E. Doughty Street. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at the Methodist Church with the Rev. John Agema officiating and interment will be made in Lakewood Cemetery. Alice Esping was born in Stockholm, Wisconsin January 10, 1894, daughter of Charles and Anna Esping. She grew up and attended schools in Stockholm. On March 13, 1913 she was married to Nicholas Halpaus in Stockholm, who survives her. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clyde Mott (Harriet) of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Jack Pawlowski (Hazel) of Chicago, four sons, Howard, Lake City, Harvey of Red Wing, Harlan of Winona, and Donald at home, and three brothers, Axel, La Crosse, Jake, Seattle, and Herbert, Payallup, Washington. Mrs. Halpaus was a member of the Methodist Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary and Royal Neighbors and active in all of them.
