Berryman Note: This obituary was taken from the newspaper "The Lake City Graphic". 9/1962 Mrs. Woodrow Key Dies in Los Angeles Mrs. Woodrow Key, former Lake Citian, died in Queen of Angels Hospital, Los Angeles, on Sep. 19 after an extended illness. Mrs. Key was born in Lake City on Feb. 22, 1915, the daughter of Robert and Alvina Halpaus. She attended the public schools in Lake City. On Aug. 22, 1935, she was married to James Woodrow (Woody) Key in St. Paul. The Keys owned and operated the Royal Café and Hotel for several years. In 1948 they moved to California and have been living at 13417 Demblom St., Baldwin Park. Mrs. Key is survived by her husband, one son, Gary, at the home address and one daughter, Mrs. Carl Blackard (Nancy) of Baldwin Park, and two grandchildren, Paul and Julie Blackard. Other survivors are her mother, Mrs. Alvina Anderson, two brothers, John Halpaus and Harley Anderson, a sister, Mrs. Betty Slauson, all of Lake City, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Pilger of St. Paul. Funeral services were held Sept. 22 at Baldwin Park Funeral Home. The Rev. M. William B. Key of Hollywood, a cousin of Mr. Key conducted the service.
