Jan. 13, 1824, Mannheim, Prussia) Margaret has two obituaries, one in the April 20, 1900 edition of the Wabasha County Standard: "Mrs. Henry Krouse Dead. A kind and indulgent mother and wife, and ever ready to do or give a little more than her strength or means would permit, were the traits of character that endeared Mrs. Henry Krouse to the memory of her entire circle of friends and made for herself a place that it will be hard for another to fill. She lived in and practiced the faith of her religion and at no time did its requirements find her lacking. Last November she was stricken with paralysis, and continued in about the same condition until last Sunday when the end came, and the pure soul ascended to Him who gave it. Mrs. Krause's maiden name was Maggie Hemmas. She was born Jan. 13, 1824, in Prussia, where, after attaining womanhood, she married Henry Krouse, who preceded her to the grave five years ago. In the 50s they immigrated to this country and settled at Mineral Point, Wis. In 1855 they moved to Wabasha where they resided but a short time before moving onto the land where they have lived ever since and where they both died. She was the mother of seven children, six girls and one boy, three of whom survive her. The funeral was held from St. Felix church Tuesday, Rev. Father Wurst conducting the services." The Wabasha County Herald: "Laid Away. Mrs. Margaret Kraus died, at the home of her son, William Kraus, in Greenfield, on Sunday morning, April 15th, at the age of 76 years. Deceased was born in Manheim, Prussia, was married in her native land and came to America in 1855, settling in Wisconsin. In 1858 the family moved to Minnesota and settled on a farm near Kellogg. This was their home until a few years ago, when Mr. Kraus died. Mrs. Kraus made her home with her son, and was in poor health for some time prior to her death. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Conrad Trottner, of Greenfield, and Mrs. Edward Wise of Lake City, and by one son, William Kraus, of Greenfield. Deceased was ever an industrious woman, entirely devoted to her home and the welfare of her family. Among the old settlers of this vicinity she w ill be greatly missed. The funeral was held from St. Felix church on Tuesday and interrment took place at the Catholic cemetery in this city." <END>
