Berryman Funeral services for Nick Halpaus, 62, whose death occurred in the Lake City hospital last Thursday, were held Saturday afternoon in the Methodist church with the Rev. Reineke officiating. Interment was made in the Lakewood Cemetery. Mr. Halpaus died after a lingering illness. He had been in the hospital several days prior to his death. Born in West Albany, in 1890, he married Alice Esping of Stockholm, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death. Survivors include four sons, Howard, Harvey, Harlan, and Donald; and two daughters, Mrs. Harriet Mott of Minneapolis and Hazel Pawlowski of Chicago. Also surviving are two brothers, Joseph of Millville and Robert of Williams Minnesota, and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Zell of Lake City, Mrs. Agnes Babilon of Pasadena, California, and Mrs. Charles Geisler of Wabasha. Pallbearers were Clarence Rabe, John Juers, Clarence Wieck, Cal Black, Elmer Bergstrom, and John Halpaus. Mr. Halpaus worked many years as an auto mechanic and later bought a tavern which he operated until he was stricken ill.
