Berryman Note: This obituary was taken from the newspaper "The Lake City Graphic". 10/1928 Aged Pioneer Dies Suddenly Robert Halpaus, well known Lake City resident, passed away Monday morning Oct. 1 at his home on Franklin St. after a brief illness. He had been alt to be about as usual but was taken sick suddenly Monday morning and passed away within a short time. Mr. Halpaus was born in Germany in 1844 and came to America in 1868. His wife passed away 3 years ago and one son last June. Mr. Halpaus was nearly 84 years old. He leaves to mourn his passing four sons and five daughters. They are Mrs. Anna Hook of Theilman, Joseph Halpaus of Millville, Mrs. Mary Geisler of Wabasha, Mrs. Pauline Zell and Nicholas Halpaus of Lake City, Robert Halpaus of Williams, Minnesota, Mrs. Clara Nelson of Minneapolis, Paul Halpaus of St. Paul, and Mrs. Agnes Babilon of Pasadena, California. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's Church. Father D. A. Cunningham officiating. Interment was made in St. Mary's Cemetery.
