Michael Schad Dies at Home of Brother Pneumonia, With Other Complications, Cause of Sudden Death Michael Schad, 74 year old Highland township resident, passed away suddenly at the home of his brother, Joseph Schad, on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Not in good health, but continuing his usual duties, he was taken with a sudden attack of pneumonia which to his life. Mr. Schad was born on the family homestead December 21, 1862, in a log cabin built by his father in pioneer days. As he grew to manhood he assumed duties of the operations to assist his father. In September 1900 he married Katherine Wempner and they went to his farm in West Albany to make their home. Mrs. Schad died in the first year of their marriage. Mr. Schad continued his home on his West Albany farm until 1918 when he returned to the old home farm to make his home with his brother, Joseph and has since continued to live there. Surviving the deceased are the brother, Joseph, and four sisters, Mrs. August Steich, West Albany, Mrs. Elizabeth Hopkins, Wabasha, Margaret and Anna on the home place. Mr. Schad was a member of the Knights of Columbus, belonging to the Wabasha Council. Funeral services were held on Thursday morning at the Conception church and burial was made in the West Albany cemetery. Rev Henry Dolle officiated at the services.
