The Plainview News. January 15, 1926, page 5. Locals Geo. Carpenter returned home Monday from Winona where he has been visiting his daughter, Mrs. Frank Schouweiler, who is in a critical condition at the Winona hospital. His daughter Miss Honor Carpenter was down from St Paul to spend the weekend there. The death of Mrs. Frank Schouweiler, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Geo Carpenter of Oakwood, occurred at the Winona hospital on Wednesday morning following months of illness. An operation was performed last June from which Mrs. Schouweiler did not fully recover. She spent the summer at the home of her parent in the hope that the rest and home care would assist her to recover. Her condition became worse however and two weeks ago she returned to the hospital where nothing could be done to reliever her. Members of her family went to Winona Wednesday and the funeral was held at Kellogg and burial made at Conception. John Curran and James Carpenter left for Winona Wednesday afternoon to attend the funeral of the latter's sister, Mrs. Frank Schouweiler, which was held at Kellogg the following day. January 22, 1926, page 1. The school work she commenced there was continued at Wabasha where she graduated from the high school. She also was a graduate of the Winona State Teachers college. Completing her work there she began teaching school and for several years was a very successful teacher. On July 28, 1920, she was married to Frank Schouweiler at St Joachim's church and made her home in Winona. One child, a son, James was born to them. For some time she had been in poor health and in June of last year underwent an operation. She was unable to recover from that operation and spent the summer at the home of her parents in the hope of regaining her strength. After months of suffering she was returned to the hospital at Winona where she grew worse and passed away Wednesday morning, Jan 13. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and son, her parents and the following brothers and sisters, James, Aiden, John, Stephan, Morna of Plainview, Honor of St Paul, Mary of Desmet, SD, One sister, Elva, preceded her in death.
