Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Sheri Sexton ========================================================================= Mrs. Johannah Sexton Mrs. Johannah Sexton whose death occurred at the home of her son, J.E. Sexton of Hyde Park early last Friday morning, was one of the earliest residents of Wabasha county having lived in that township for 58 years. Her death was due to old age. Her health had been poor for several months. She was 83 years and 13 days of age. The deceased whose maiden name was Johannah Doody was born in Newcastle West, Limerick Ireland, on August 15, 1831. In 1847 she came to America with her parents and in 1856 she was married to Timothy Sexton at Davenport. Ia., and six weeks later, in the month of October, they came to Wabasha county and settled on the farm now occupied by their son J.E. Sexton where they spent the remainder of their lives. She is survived by ten children, her husband having preceded her to the grave in March 1896. The children are: Thos. J. Sexton of Oakwood, Jas. Sexton of Hyde Park, John of Duluth, William of Sioux Falls, SD, Michael, Mrs. M. Tobin, Mrs. J. Petzke and Miss Frances Sexton of Minneapolis, Mrs. M.A. Fox of St. Paul and Sister Blanche of Sierra Madre, Cal. The funeral was held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at St. Patrick's church West Albany, when requiem high mass was celebrated by Father Brazil, after which the remains were laid to rest in St. Patrick's cemetery Published in the Lake City Republican MN dated Aug. 1914
