John Shields John Shields, who was taken ill last week and on Monday taken to the hospital at Wabasha, passed away at that institution Thursday morning, after an illness of but a few days. John D Shields was born February 5th, 1857, at Fond du Lac, Wis, the son of Patrick and Margaret Beegan Shields. He came to Minnesota with his parents June 10th, 1860, and has always resided in this vicinity. "Jack" as he was familiarly known, was a kind hearted and most accommodating man, well liked by all and especially by those with whom he was employed. He was always willing to help others and do his bit in the world. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Curran, Mrs. Nora Carpenter, and Mrs. Mary Welti, all of this place. He was preceeded in death by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Rodney and his parents. Funeral services were held at Conception Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Father Zanner officiating and interment made in St Peter and Paul's cemetery in the family lot.
