GARDNER CALLED TO REWARD RESIDED HERE FOR MORE THAN HALF CENTURY-SUFFERED FROM CANCER THIRTY YEARS. Mrs. S. M. Gardner, who had been a sufferer at the local hospital for several weeks, died at that place on Sunday, Feb. 22, from cancer, from which she had been a sufferer for more than 30 years. Susan M. Dorrance was born at Otisco Center, N.Y., March 15, 1842, and was 78 years of age. She was married to James E. Gardner July 4, 1860, and they resided in this city since that time. Mr. Gardner died about 26 years ago. Three children survive, Will and Ira of this city and one daughter, Mrs. C.S. David of Dayton, Ohio, and two brothers, Z.W. Durrance of Duluth and John H. Durrance of Allenberg, Wash., also survive. She was a member of the Baptist church of this city. The many friends deplore her passing, but as she was a most patient sufferer from the dread disease for so many years, all know that her sufferings are over and that she is at rest. Services were conducted at the Fitschen chapel Tuesday afternoon, Rev. J.D. Wylie officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Lakewood cemetery.
