Plainview News November 14, 1954 page 5. Mrs. Philip Welti Buried Monday Mrs. Philip Welti, 87, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M J Leonard, Friday morning after an illness of ten days. Funeral services were held Monday at 9:30 am at St Joachim's Catholic church. Rev Chester Gallagher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Welti was born Sept. 29, 1867, in Highland Township, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Patrick Shields. She was married to Philip Welti Oct 7, 1901. The couple resided on the Shields farm until moving to town in 1918. Mr. Welti died in 1940. Surviving are Mrs. Leonard a son, Patrick of Highland and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were six nephews A J Welti of West Concord, Patrick Curran of Winona, John and Philip A Welti, Aiden and George M Carpenter. Mrs. Welti was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart and the Altar and Rosary Society. The latter group attended the funeral in a body. Attending the funeral from away were Messrs and Mmes. Wm. Welti, Ellsworth Clapp, Alfred Schuman, Mmes Neola Welti, Mae Brehmer, and Wm Nelson all of Rochester, Mr. And Mrs. Lester Rodney of DeSmet, SD, John Rodney of Cartage, SD, Mr. And Mrs. Al Kayser and family of St Paul, Miss Cathy Powers of White Bear Lake, Mrs. Thomas Duerre of Waseca, Mr. And Mrs. Roy DeFrang of Bremen, Mmes Anna Sprigg, Neil Weagant, Miss Emma Welti and Walter Welti all of Elgin.
