Plainview News, April 22, 1904. Death of Fred Wempner Fred Wempner, an old and respected citizen of this place, died at the home of his brother, Henry, in the town of Oakwood, Tuesday, April 19, 1904, of heart failure. He has been failing in health since last November and for the past several weeks has been confined to his bed. Deceased was born at Franklin, Wis, in 1856 and came with his parents to Minnesota when about two years of age. He was unmarried and has always made his home with relatives. At the age of 18 he took a liking to threshing and he has followed that occupation ever since, never missing a fall but what he was with a threshing crew. There is hardly a farmer on Greenwood Prairie whom he has not threshed for and he was a man well known and well liked. Besides an aged father, Ernest Wempner, he leaves two brothers, Ed and Henry all of this place to mourn his loss. Funeral services will be conducted from the German Congregational church at Theilman tomorrow, Rev Krahn officiating and interment made at that place.
