The Plainview News, November 12, 1915 Death of Henry Wempner The death of Henry Wempner at his home in Oakwood last Friday, November 5th, after a lingering illness of nearly a year and a half, marked the closing of a most useful life and called away a man who was well liked and respected by all. He was a true friend and neighbor and his memory will be cherished by many who have known him throughout life. While he has been in poor health for some time, the end was not expected and it came as a sudden shock to the family and friends. Thursday he had suffered considerable and was unable to sleep during the night. He arose early Friday morning about five o'clock, his wife and one son arising at the same time. Seated in a chair a short time later he fell over and would have dropped to the floor had not his son caught him, passing away at 5:45 without the slightest warning. He was a man who should have been in the prime of life-49 years of age had he lived until December. He was a native of this county, having been born in the town of Glasgow, December 7, 1866, and spent his life in this county. He was married to Catherine Zell Jun 11,1888, and commenced farming at once on the Pat Mehan farm. A few years later they moved to Oakwood where they have continued farming for the past twenty years. He is survived by his wife and ten children, Fred of Bremen, Arthur, Herman, Albert, Bertha, Paul, Elsie, Walter and Hattie, all of whom live on the home farm. One son, Willie, died at the age of two years, He is also survived by on brother, Edward, of this city. Funeral services were held Monday morning, leaving the home at nine o'clock for the Evangelical church at Millville, where funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock by Rev. Hausman and interment made in the Millville cemetery.
