Last Friday death came to relieve the suffering of Walter Hewitt of this city at the age of sixty-four years. He was born in Erie County, Pa. and in 1855 came to this city for the first time, but afterwards moved to Wisconsin for a few years, not being satisfied he returned to this city where he has made his home since. In 1855 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Gardner and to them was born three children Mrs. E.R. Bennett of this city, George of Martell, Wis., and Frank Hewitt of Durand Wis., all of whom were present to shed the tear of love and sympathy with their aged and beloved mother. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Rev. C.H. Plummer officiating. M r. Hewitt was an honest hardworking man often working far beyond his strength. His death was caused by cancer of the liver. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walter Hewitt was listed in the 1880 census of Buffalo County, Wisconsin as age 47 born in Pennslyvania, Elizabeth his wife age 46 born in New York. Also listed as a son was George Hewitt who was born in Minnesota.
