Henry From the Wabasha County Herald, July 4, 1895 "An Old Settler Dead William Krouse, one of Wabasha county's old settlers died at his home in Greenfield on Thursday last, at the age of 76 years. Deceased was born in Prussia, near Kehlm, on the Rhine. He came to America in 1854, settling first at Mineral Point, Wis., but becoming a resident of this country in 1857. For a number of years he had been ailing but a strong constitution preserved his life until an advanced age. He is survived by his widow and three children, Wm. Krouse of Greenfield, Mrs. Conrad Trottner of this city and Mrs. Edward Wise of Lake City. The funeral was held on Saturday, from St. Felix church in this city, a large number attending."
