Wabasha Democrat, Friday, September 16, 1898, page 1. Frederick Zell, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Glasgow, died Tuesday morning at his home, the result of severe injuries received Friday while tying a bull in the stable. He suffered greatly until death put an end to all. Deceased was born in Strelitz-Meckelburg Germany, June 25, 1826 and was therefore a little past 72 years of age. In 1856 he came to America locating in Pepin Wis. In 1857 he was married. In 1874 he moved to the town of Gilford and in 1881 to the town of Glasgow where he since resided. He was the father of eight children, seven of whom with his widow survive. The children are Paul F, of this city; Mrs. Sefrien Hoch, Millville; John W, deceased; Mrs. Theodore Shade, Plainview; Fred, Jr., at home; Mrs. Henry Wempner, Oakwood; Will in the army, last heard from at Santiago before the battle; Henry at home. Deceased was a man highly respected by the entire community and greatly loved by his family, and his death is deeply mourned. The funeral occurred yesterday at the Trout Brook Valley church, Rev Pharo preaching the sermon and was attended by a vast concourse of people.
