FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Joy Marty Adrian Submitted: June 2004 ======================================================================== I have finally found my Daniel Vollmer cemetery after years of searching. I would really like to preserve the information as it is an old family cemetery. It is located on the former Daniel Vollmer farm in a thick second growth of woods, .3 miles north of Interstate 94 and 100 yards west of County Road 71 (Neal Avenue) in West Lakeland Township, Washington County, Minnesota. Name: Daniel Vollmer Cemetery (abandoned) Location: West Lakeland Township, Washington County, Minnesota Ownership: Originally owned by Mr. Johann Daniel Vollmer born in Wetter, Hesse Kassel, Germany. His heirs have set this cemetery aside never to be sold or used for other purposes. The cemetery was opened in 1856 and abandoned in 1864. Condition: Very poor condition. No visible headstones. It does still have a fence. This cemetery was abandoned because it was to be the cemetery of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran congregation, who later decided to use the one known as the Old Trinity Evangelical Lutheran cemetery; this was also abandoned in 1876. The Old Trinity Lutheran cemetery is located along side of the feeder road of Interstate 94 at County Road 71 and the Daniel Vollmer cemetery is nearby. I am still trying to find the records of this old cemetery, as the headstones that are there (all except for one which is in the middle of a lilac bush) are illegible. Burials: Katherina Schaefer Vollmer 10 Nov 1823-21 Jul 1856 (Johann Daniel Vollmer's wife) George Vollmer 01 Jul 1856-20 Jul 1856 (Their infant son) Daniel Dersch 27 Jan 1841-19 Sep 1864 (Johann Daniel is his mother's brother) Wife of Daniel Dersch (Her name and dates of birth and death are unknown)
