FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: November 2006 ========================================================================= Watonwan County Howard Dysthe, son of Joseph and Beatrice (Bunnis) Dysthe, was born July 13th, 1931 in Lake Wilson, MN. He died Friday, September 15th, 2006 in Madelia. He was 75 years old. Howard grew up in Lake Wilson and graduated from high school there in 1949. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After returning he studied auto mechanics at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He married Janet Arens on June 16th, 1956 at Woodstock, MN. They made their home in Madelia where Howard first worked as a mechanic for Jose Motor Co. and in 1965 began operating Howard's Standard Service. He retired in 1993. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia VFW and American Leion Post #19 and served on the Madelia Rescue Squad, Fire Department and Community Theater Board. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, gardening, bicycling, his morning and afternoon coffee time and spending time with grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Janet; 3 daughters and husbands, Pat and Joe Pfannenstein of St. Cloud, Peggy and Doug Osterman of Monument, CO, and Pam and Ken Manning of Denver, CO; 2 sons and wives, Mike and Cindy of White Bear Lake and Mark and Kjersten of Savage; grandchildren, Elissa, Katy, Kristin, Cailee, Julia, Kiel, Becca, Matt, Ryan, Josh, and Sarah; 3 sistesr; and 2 brothers. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 19th, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia with Father Thomas Cook officiating. The organist was Dolores Russell and the song leader was Laura Pace. Special music was provided by Kjersten Dysthe and her sisters Kara and Alisa. Casketbearers were Howard's 5 children, and brother Bruce. Honorary casketbearers were Jim Eiselt, Jim Jagerson, Fritz Lassas, Laurel Peterson, Dick Russell and Rod Yarger.
