A. Olson Services Held at First Lutheran-Burial at Long Lake Cemetery Friends and relatives filled the First Lutheran church Saturday afternoon when the last rites were conducted for G. A. Olson, a resident of this community for more than half a century. Rev. H. S. Strand, pastor of the church, conducted the services which began at 2 o’clock, and Rev. M. E. Ranheim of Howard, S>D>, son-in-law of the deceased, spoke briefly in behalf of the family. Music at the church was furnished by a ladies’ chorus from the choir and a solo was sung by Miss Nora Lunde. The Kansas Lake-Long Lake Octet, sang two songs at the cemetery. Burial was at the Long Lake cemetery where Rev. Stephen Dale, pastor of the Long Lake church, spoke. The pallbearers were Gilbert, Adolph, John, Ludvig, William and Carl Olson, all sons. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Johnson, Tom Offerdal, J.E. Hegstrom, Severt Hansen, Ed Lindquist and A. J. Uleberg. Death came to Mr. Olson on Tuesday evening at 8:30 o’clock, at the St. James Hospital, where he had been a patient for a day. He has been ill since January. Gustav Albin Olson was born on March 4, 1866, in Dahlsland, Sweden, where he received his religious instruction and education. He grew to young manhood in his native country, coming to America in 1888. When he came to this country he came directly to Watonwan county. In 1889, Mr. Olson was united in marriage to Gena Khile to which union ten children were born. They are: Mrs. S. I. Wettestad (Ellen) of La Salle; Ole, of Plenty, Sask., Canada; Gilbert of Ormsby; Adolph of Plenty, Sask., Can.; John of Crookston; Ludvig of Kenyon; William, at home; Emil of Plenty, Sask., Can.; Carl, who is farming near Echols; Mrs M. E. Ranheim (Myrtle), of Howard, S. D. Mrs. Olson died in 1916. I(n 1925 Mr. Olson remarried, Anna Nelson being the bride. Besides his wife and ten children, Mr. Olson is survived by one brother, Carl W. Olson, of Osakis, Minn., and one sister, Mrs Betty Paulson, of Moss, Norway. There are 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Olson was an active member of the First Lutheran church. He had farmed in the vicinity of St. James for over 50 years. During this long period of time, he made a host of friends who will miss his friendly smile. Those, from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson, Mrs. George Johnson and Orlean, of Osakis, and Oliver of Alexandria; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Nelson and Lois, C. A. Laganquist, Minneapolis; Kenneth Laganquist, of Mankato; Mrs. Carl E. Pearson, of Wisconsin.
