O. Ulvestad, was born in Rosendale township, Nov. 12, 1874, and lived on the farm until 1898, when, with his brother, Julius, he came to Madelia and went into business in the old Syndicate block. Here they carried on a very successful business until the summer of 1901, when Julius died. Shortly afterward Adolph accepted a position as janitor in the public school building, which position he held for 2 1/2 years, resigning on account of ill health. About two years ago he went to Colorado in the hope of obtaining relief, but after a residence of fourteen months in that state without any noticeable improvement, he returned home last May, and since that time he has gradually weakened until at last, at 6:15 o'clock Thursday evening, Aug. 1st, the death angel came to his relief and bore his faithful spirit to that realm of peace and joy where no suffering nor sorrow dwells. Adolph Ulvestad was one of Madelia's most respected young men, whose friends were numbered by his acquaintances. During the two and a half years that he served as janitor at the school house he made warm friends of all the school children who appreciated his kindness and readiness to do anything within his power to add to their comfort and enjoyment. He was a general favorite and the news of his death will be received with sorrow by all. About a week ago he gave up all hope and requested that his friends call to see him as he wanted to bid them all a last farewell. He named his pallbearers and made other arrangements for the funeral. His life had been one well spent and he had no fear of death. The funeral services will be held from the West Lutheran church at 12 o'clock, noon, next Monday. Rev. L. E. Green officiating, and interment will be made in the Rosendale cemetery. The deepest sympathy of the entire community goes out to the grief stricken parents and relatives.
