Karen Lydia (McCormick) Koons 29 of Hawk Point, Missouri formerly of Winona, 
Minnesota died May 6, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital-West in Lake Saint Louis, 
Missouri. Karen was born to Walter J. McCormick and Carole J. (Marsh) 
McCormick in Winona, Minnesota on March 3, 1980. She was a homemaker. She was 
a 1999 graduate of St. Charles High School. She attended St. Charles Community 
College. She was a member of Church on the Rock in St. Peters, Missouri. She 
was a charter member of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, St. Peters, 
Missouri. She was a former member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, St. Charles, 
Missouri. She was bapitized by Rev. Bill Flesch at Our Redeemer Lutheran 
Church in Winona, Minnesota in July, 1980. 

Karen is survived by her husband Matthew W. Koons of Hawk Point, Missouri. One 
son Eric Charles Koons of St. Charles County, Missouri. One daughter, Carole 
Emma Grace Koons  of St. Charles County, Missouri. One Step-Daughter, Hannah 
Greenwood-Koons of Fort Collins, Colorado. Other survivors include her father, 
Walter J. McCormick of St. Charles, Missouri and one sister, Kendra McCormick 
also of St. Charles. Two aunts, Deena (Marsh) Rose of Vero Beach, Florida and 
Martha (McGuire) Ferguson of St. Charles, Missouri. Two great-aunts; Ann 
(Arndt) Hutton of Seattle, Washington, and Doris (Simms) Paul of Phoenix, 
Arizona. One grandmother, Lydia H. (Arndt- McCormick) McGuire of St. Charles, 
Missouri. She leaves behind many cousins and friends.


Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Carole J. (Marsh) McCormick. Two 
brothers, John and James McCormick. Three grandfathers, Steven E. McCormick, 
Charles G. Marsh and Mitchell O. McGuire. One grandmother, Margaret Regina 
(Simms) Marsh.


A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Our Savior Lutheran 
Church with Rev. Edward Arle officiating. The body was cremated. Interment 
will be private. Funeral arrangements were made by Baue Funeral Home in St. 
Charles, Missouri.

Karen's obit appears on www.baue.com. Her obit does not appear in any of the 
local papers due to the high cost. The papers wanted $400.00 or more. So I 
created this obit because her on-line one is missing certain life details.
