BIEGERT FUNERAL RITES AT GREENWOOD Prominent Greenwood Man Dies After Lingering Illness of Five Years Funeral services for George Biegert were conducted Sunday, November 30 from the home and at two o'clock at the Greenwood German Lutheran Church, Rev. Haar officiating. Internment was made in the church cemetery. Mr. Biegert passed away at his home from the effects of a stroke, on Wednesday, November 27 (1935). George Biegert was born August 5, 1856 in Dundenheim, Germany the second oldest son of John Biegert and his wife Marie nee Haester. He was baptized and confirmed in his native place. In 1882 he together with his father and his brothers and sisters came to America, residing first in Charles City, Iowa, and soon thereafter settling in here in Greenwood. On May 20, 1885 he married Magdalene Kettenacker. This union was blessed with four children. On December 24, 1921 his wife preceded him in death. The deceased could hardly realize at first his beloved life-companion had been translated to her eternal home. However, as every true believer in Christ, he humbly submitted to God's good and gracious will and ways, and experienced the truth that all things work together for good to them that love God. Thus with thanksgiving to God he always remembered his sainted wife. The deceased enjoyed good health until about five years ago when he at times suffered from the effects of rheumatism and also partially lost his sense of hearing. But he daily read his Bible and said his prayers, through which he received the grace, strength and comfort of the Lord. He had found peace with God through the blood and patiently waited for the Lord to deliver him from all evil and present him unto his heavenly kingdom. And sooner that he himself and his children expected, this hope was fulfilled. A week ago last Monday due to a stroke he fell unconsciously into the cement floor in the barn where he had been doing some chores. His son found him and immediately carried him to the house. He regained his consciousness and the following day prepared himself for a blessed departure by receiving the Sacrament of Christ's body and blood.
